Common Questions about OneLiners and Mortar Beds
Cracks in the mortar mud bed
Sometimes you will see hairline cracks in the mortar as it dries and may think there's an issue. But those cracks have to do with the water/drying process and are not a structural crack/problem.
Sometimes I'd suggest they pile all their mortar in around the OneLiner and they'll see how it weighs down the liner, but some people just over think it, lol. If Steve had know he'd sent out a really wobbly one, he'd offer to send a better one...but that's a last resort.
Custom prefabricated shower pan
We recommend you lay down a 2x4, on the flat side, and rest the backer board on it while you screw it in place (keeping in mind to not screw down into the OneLiner, once the screws are holding the backer board in place you can remove the 2x4 and do drypack. The 1 1/2" gap will get mostly filled in with drypack, this way the backer board does not sit on bottom of shower pan.
